“Who like poverty?” — Davido fires back at Erigga over post on musicians who came from poor backgrounds

Nigerian music star Davido has fired back at rapper Erigga after he praised musicians who came from humble backgrounds and had to work their way to success.

Erigga had written: “Shoutout to all the musicians who don't come from family money and had to grind for every single dollar they earn.”

Reacting to the post, Davido, who has often been the subject of conversations about his privileged family background, challenged the idea behind the rapper’s message.

“No be we say make your pops no guard o. Shoutout to the ones that came from family money and still grind to the top, imbecile,” Davido wrote.

He followed up with another post, saying: “Comot here with that your useless motivation.”

The singer also questioned the idea of glorifying poverty, asking: “Deep down who like poverty?”

In another post, Davido appeared to dismiss the ongoing conversations surrounding his wealth and music career.

“No worry o I go soon leave their music for una. GO MAKE MY BILLIONS... then that shit gonna be boring,” he wrote.
